Is Google such an happiness machine?

This article in Slate glorifies Google as the best company to work for. What is not taken into account is how Google treats its "suppliers", how are treated all the "temporary workers" hired by contractors who contribute to Google's success but get 0 benefit?
As for being extatic about "long" paid maternity leaves, they are standard in most EU countries in any company you work for.
